What EcoDrops are
EcoDrops are the only currency in BottleChallenge, and they are not for sale. They come from one thing: filling your bottle at a place that carries the BottleChallenge sticker.
Where they come from
There are four ways to collect them, and each one is something you actually did.
A filled bottle
Fill your bottle at a place with water and hold your phone to the BottleChallenge sticker. The tap confirms the refill on the spot and the EcoDrops land in your wallet at once.
A new place on the map
Add a place with water that is missing from the map. Once a moderator approves it, you get EcoDrops for it, and everybody else gets one more place to fill a bottle.
Someone you invited
Invite a friend with your link. The EcoDrops arrive after their first confirmed refill, not for the sign-up itself.
The welcome bonus
A one-off amount at your first confirmed refill, so the wallet does not start empty.
Only the sticker confirms a refill. Nothing is typed in by hand, and there is no way to buy EcoDrops, which is what keeps them worth anything.
The wallet
Everything you collected sits in your EcoDrops wallet, in the app and in your account on this site. Every entry is there with its date and its reason, and so is every reward you collected.
- Each amount you earn forms its own batch, and a batch lives six months from the day you earned it.
- When you spend, the batch closest to expiring goes first, so the oldest EcoDrops are used rather than lost.
- Record a refill while your oldest batch is within thirty days of expiring and that batch is extended once, by another thirty days.
What you spend them on
EcoDrops go to the reward shop, and only on experiences: cinema, theatre, museums, concerts, events. Never on objects, because it is hard to reduce waste by handing out more things.
- Some rewards cost a fixed amount, some give a discount, and some let you choose how many EcoDrops to spend and how big a discount you get.
- After collecting one you get a code: ours, shown at the venue, or the partner’s own, or a link to the partner’s system.
- The code and what happened to it stay in your wallet, so you can find it again after you leave the page.
Where the rewards come from
Cinemas, theatres, museums and brands put their tickets and experiences into the shop. They meet people who came for water, and nobody pays with cash.
